Privacy Policy

Last updated 30 September 2026

Needle does not collect any data. It has no account system, no analytics, no advertising, and no networking code of any kind. Nothing you do in the app leaves your device.

Location

Needle reads your device's GPS location while the app is open, and only then. It uses it for exactly two things: to show your current speed, and to measure the distance of a trip while you are recording one.

Your location is processed on your device and is never transmitted, uploaded, shared, or sold. Needle does not request background location access, so it cannot read your location when it is not on screen.

Motion and fitness

Needle reads the accelerometer to smooth the speed reading between GPS updates and to show cornering and braking forces. This data is used in the moment and is not stored or transmitted.

What is stored, and where

Your saved trips, personal bests and settings are written to your device's local app storage. They stay on your device, are included in your device backups if you have those enabled, and are deleted when you delete the app. They are never sent anywhere.

Children

Needle is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If a future version of Needle ever collects anything, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the App Store privacy label will change to match.
